Domestic Violence Commissioners Seminar
The Judicial Education Center offered an intensive day-long annual training for Domestic Violence Commissioners in May. Topics included legal updates, best practices, pro se litigants, juvenile litigants, mediation, supervised child visitation and exchange, and human trafficking.

District Court Staff SeminarsJEC completed a month-long series of professional development seminars for the New Mexico District Court staff in April. Seminars were held in Gallup for Region I, Judicial District 11; Santa Fe for Region II, Districts 1, 4, and 8; Albuquerque for Region III, Districts 2 and 13; Clovis for Region IV, Districts 5, 9 and 10; Las Cruces for Region V, Districts 3, 6, 7 and 12.
Topics included in all of the regions were: Ethics for Court Staff, Your Financial Future and In-Office Fitness. Topics in specific regions included: Personal Finances, Fraud, Personnel Rules and Performance Evaluations, HR Q & A and Professional Etiquette.
JEC implemented a new program evaluation system for these seminars by asking participants to fill out online surveys. |

Courts and the Media: A Workbook for Judges & Journalists
The National Judicial College's Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Courts and Media has developed a workbook based on a series of workshops bringing together judges, journalists, and court staff to discuss issues between the courts and the media. The workbook is designed to help both the courts and the media work more harmoniously. Please check the bottom of our Resources page for the pdf of this workbook.
Online Training on Crimes of Stalking and Harassment
The Judicial Education Center has developed comprehensive online training for the judiciary on the crimes of stalking and harassment. Incorporating both explanatory text and interactive exercises, the training provides detailed information on the substantive, procedural and psychological aspects of these offenses. The training was funded in part by a grant from the federal Office on Violence Against Women administered by the New Mexico Crime Victims Reparation Commission.
